Programming 1.8V FLASH SPI issue after update (LE25FS406 from HDD)

Hello,
since i uploaded to version 1.3 my programmer is not able to read SPI roms :x
The green (reading) bar fills up very quickly (1 second) but i get only FF, in previous version it was not so fast (to fill the bar needed about 20 seconds) but reading was good.

Is my programmer damaged?

Hi Michael,

After update transfer speed between programmer and PC is increased many times (that's why reading bar fills so quick), while transfer between programmer and SPI bus is the same so I think that issue is in different place. What chip are you trying to program? Have you tried with other chips? Is it contacting on each pin? I can prepare you also test software for downgrade (1.3 -> 1.2.4) so you can check on older ver. too (but as I said I think that update is not the case). I can also test your programmer and chip.

Hi, thank you for your reply.
I solved the problem by using external SOP8 to DIP adapter (i connected it on programmer ZIF socket) instead of the one embedded on programmer, this means that was just bad connection between chip pins and adapter pins.
I used external adapter as this one:

ROM that i needed to write is 25FS406 (1.8V SPI flash), once it was detected via external SOP8 adapter it was readen and written correctly even with new fast speed. :lol:

It's still possible to have the downgrade software 1.3 -> 1.2.4 ?

Thanks for info.

New version is really fast and I do not know person who would like to downgrade (officially it is not possible, but for test purpose if necessary - why not ;) )

I think that you used SOIC-8 200mil adapter (on picture is SOIC-8 150mil). Most (but not all) FLASH SPI are in 200mil package.
Datasheet for LE25FS406, page 2, available packages: MSOP8/MFP8 (both compatible with SOIC-8 200mil), VSON8N and VSON8:

Just to let you know you can now test in-circuit programming with latest version (v1.5), where you can decrease SPI speed in settings (settings -> hardware -> flash spi). You can set SPI clock e.g. to 10% of nominal value - than you will have the same SPI speed as in 1.2.x version.
