OEM SFP+ program

Postby iboluda » Tue Oct 08, 2019 5:58 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to code OEM SFP+ with revelprog and revelprog sfp adapter. All the process works fine I only change the serial number from one .bin file from another. But when I unplug and plug the SFP+ it still remains the old code. It doesn´t happen with the 1G SFP codes. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Verification pass and after reconnect it is still old data? Are you sure that this OEM SFP+ does not require password? Are you recalculating checksums? (click chksum button after s/n change and then write buffer to memory).

Hi Art,
Here is the process with pictures attached
step 1.- Plug the optic and read the info
step 2.- Change the serial number and recalculating checksums
step 3.- Write buffer to memory
step4.- Unplug and plug the optic and read the info again

And as you can see the data is still old data. How can I know if there is a password?

It looks like it is some kind of protection implemented in SFP.
Do you have SFP datasheet? I guess it is write protected or it is hidden procedure for write (maybe described in datasheet).

Please check also this subject about password tool:

Hi,

Yes I have the datasheet but there is no mention of password or any hidden protection but it seems that it does. Is there any list of vendors that have unprotected coding?

Regards

Unfortunately I do not know such list :( but when you will be looking for OEM SFP (e.g. on ebay) you should find information that it is unprotected and compatible with MSA standard.
