Hello, one question can I reprogram winbond 25Q256JWEQ bios chip (what I have found this is 1.8V chip) with REVELPROG-IS programmer without removing it from the motherboard (Asus Prime X570-P)? And do you have any instructions to give me how to do it right.

This chip is supported with REVELPROG-IS (FLASH -> 25 series -> Winbond -> W25Q256JW). "E" package (page 94 in datasheet https://www.winbond.com/resource-files/ ... 082017.pdf) is WSON-8 8x6mm so you will need WSON-8 8x6 adapter for it (https://www.reveltronics.com/en/shop/56 ... -56-detail) to programm it in adapter. If you will have SOIC-8 or SOIC-16 package then you can use SOIC-8 or SOIC-16 clip (e.g. pomona 5250 or pomona 5252) and try to programm it in circuit without desoldering but success depends on motherboard and sometimes desoldering is required (please take a look Chapter 5 in REVELPROG-IS manual for details because there are many traps for young players and sometime it's safer & easier to desolder the chip: https://www.reveltronics.com/downloads/ ... manual.pdf). But you have WSON-8 package and there is any clip for it to programm it in circuit (WSON package has connection pins on the bottom). You can try to find FLASH SPI lines on motherboard and connect to them but I recommend to desolder the chip (e.g. with hot air gun) and programm it in dedicated adapter.

Hi. Could you help me what tools I would need to flash this chip on the motherboard? I have ordered a CH341A programmer with pliers and adapter, but this does not seem to be the right toolkit. The software I loaded with it did not support this chip either, so I would probably need the correct software as well.
Perhaps a link to the correct toolkit I would need to order would be best, so I don't put the wrong input voltage or something on there.
Thanks a lot,
Markus.

Hi Markus, programming in external circuit always requires some knowledge and experience, even with REVELPROG-IS. We do not support CH341A, we are manufacturer of REVELPROG-IS. I highly recommend you to desolder the chip and programm it in adapter - it's safer. You can read more about possible traps in ICSP programming Chapter 5 of manual

The thing is: the mainboard is corrupted anyway and im not able to unsolder the chip. Its not about reprogramming it with the revelprog-is if there is any sort of instruction written down anywhere. I get it nearly done with this other programmer but this thing is just not compatible with this bios chip. I saw that there is a optional clip for soic-8 to do it right on the board.

So its basically put on the clip --> wired it with the revelprog-is --> read out old bios and save it --> reprogramm it with the latest bios file avaiable. That shouldnt be that hard to be honest. I will not write my own bios file or something.

If you got this clip and the revelprog i can send you my mainboard and give you some money for trying to flash it if you want. I will pay the shipment no problem.
