Since most BIOS chips are soldered to the system boards it has become very hard to attach the clip.
Most of the time it just pops off!
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good clip???
Best regards,
Tim
Which chip clip works best?
Re: Which chip clip works best?
For SOP chip, original Pomona clip is the best.
It is for selling in Revelprog store.
Note:
It's important to use it on chips that have original solder.
If you use it on some chips with to much solder on it, you will damage the clip.

I agree with Pityu. Additionally if you have not physical space, e.g. small caps next to chip which are limiting space for clip, you will not also be able to clamp the clip so deep. And please check your clip if it's not already damaged, deflected springs may give also such annoying symptoms. It's important to not trying clamp the clip on not properly soldered chip.

Take off any excess solder from the legs with soldamop 1st then clean the legs again with Isopropyl Alcohol.
Pomona clips do the job well for me, I have used them for over 25 years.
