Fried Revelprog?

Post by itisdeadjim »

I guess I just fried my device but I'd like to confirm that and maaaybe repair.
CS PIN of a probe just got contact to something 12V 3A ish. A little spark was emitted on the probe(d device) and the Revelprog disconnected :ugeek:
Unplug-Replug helped. At least the Revelprog is detected.
But when I want to dump some flash it starts dumping but the dump is always empty.
I can even dump air and without voltage ... I think that was not possible before.
It also seems that selecting speed does nothing. Always uses the maximum.
Anything I can do?
I did not yet take a look inside. There are 4 screws on the bottom with one being covered by a guarantee-sticker.
I guess guarantee does not apply here and it has been a few years since I bought it.
Is there something inside that the average user could fix? Or is something like SMD soldering at minimum required?

Could you share me screenshot from hardware test, please? (available from the top menu).
If it's detected with USB it should be repairable.

Values slightly vary with multiple measurements. But usually everything looks red.
Would a damaged protection circuit lead to empty dumps?
Question is if it is repairable by me ... (SMD)Soldering required?

Yes it can be repaired, but all protection buffers should be replaced. I'm sending you details via PM.
