v1.6 update progress

Postby ArT » Thu Apr 06, 2017 5:51 pm

Developing process on v.1.6 update is in advanced stage.

edit:Update v1.6 is already available. This topic is out of date!

There are few improvements and changes which we would like to test before release official update for everyone. Few of them are described below:

I2C addressing in external circuit - usefull during programming i2c devices in external circuit which different than default addressing. There is possibility to set A0, A1, A2 value (depends on selected chip)

Custom Script Programming for I2C/SPI - we spent a lot of hours on this powerful tool. It is still in developement phase, but it already gives huge possibilities. You can write script to execute any commands e.g. for unlocking device, read and write hidden registers, change protection and OTP bits etc. We will describe full functionality in other thread (check it here).

Device identification for FLASH SPI (Chip ID / Read ID). We had concerns to release this tool earlier. REVELPROG-IS supports also low voltage chips so reading chip ID without knowledge about chip power supply level is risky (setting 3,3V for 1,8V chip will damage it even during chip id reading). That's why it is required first to set and accept VPP level. Please use it carefully (you should check absolute maximum rating for chip or power supply level on the chip in external circuit).

QUAD SPI configuration change. In some latest devices FLASH SPI should be configured to work in QUAD SPI mode. This tool allow to enable or disable QE (Quad Enable) bit in FLASH register. At the moment only QE bit is supported. If device requires to change few other bytes in not standard registers than it may be done with custom script programming tool (we can make scripts for you if you need support)

There are more changes that may be not seen at a glance. Some of them will be noticed by you while working with the programmer.

The list of changes is not closed yet (developement is still in progress), but we are already pleased to invite you to test working versions of the software with new functionality. Please contact us at PM or via contact form if you are interested to test beta version with new features.

Final v1.6 update should be released in few (or more) weeks - I can not promise any release date at the moment. If you need to use some of these new features than please contact with us. I can only promise that update will be available free for all and I'm sure that you will be happy and satisfied

edit 2017-05-12: It is almost done and is now available for all interested users: Download REVELPROG-IS v1.6 RC
