UTCOMP Android: Speed readings via GPS?

while i am still in the setup phase of my setup and preparing all the wires,sensors,connectors etc i managed today to install a android Headunit in my car. Now i wonder if the Android App reads Vehicle Speed only from the UTcomp or is it able to read things like Speed from the Android system?

All calculations and readings are in UTCOMP, android app is only "data viewer" so it reads speed directly from UTCOMP. The idea is that you do not have to run android app and all data readings will be collected in background by UTCOMP - that's why speed is used directly from UTCOMP not from android device (which is not accurate for all dependent measurements such as distance, fuel consumption etc.)
