Reprogram 40G DAC to 56G DAC

Hi,

Is it possible to reprogram a 40G QSFP DAC to 56G QSFP? Or are there reasons not to try?
Does it mean that the transceiver would need to run at a higher clockspeed/transfer rate?

Tried, and to my surprise it actually worked.
I was able to do ~51 gbps on a generic DAC for a sustained 2 hours.
Would this potentially lead to early failure or is all that hardware using the same internal components?

QSFP+40G is 4x10G per lane
QSFP56 56G is 2x28G per lane
no chance to change 40G to 56G.
