Updating from older version

Postby ucokseparoh » Sat Jun 03, 2017 9:55 am

Hi Art..
.
How to update?
.
The warning in the manual is a bit scary as it indicates something worst might happen if the update procedure is not correct.. can you please write it up here step by step on how to update the soft?
.
And which driver are you talking bout in DFU folder ?
.
Should i uninstall the old version first or?
.
The tutorial on how to update the software is too unclear..
.
Thanks.

All is described in manual on one page. In practice it is very easy (next next next and it will be updated). DFU driver is installed by software installer. Warnings are required because if you stop update during reflashing process (e.g. you will be out of power/disconnect usb cable or your system freeze) than device will be not functional.

I tried to update but not worked Art..

And now looks like there is something wrong with my device as everytime i tried to read a 93c66 it never gives me a good read. At Zadig log i notice that the hardware is not found a.k.a zero.

Is my device damaged?

I installed the latest software and follow the on screen instruction.. all another programs and anti-virus was off.. and cable was connected.

Below is the Zadig log and a screen of a failed instalation..

You do not have to reinstall driver if you are updating from v1.3 or newer.
Which version did you have before update?
Does power red LED is on, off or is blinking when you plug programmer to usb port in PC?
Did you had 2 red progress bars during update - first for erasing device and second for programming device? Both ended on 100% or any of them was interrupted?

I didn't reinstall the driver... first i uninstall the existing 1.5 version then download the 1.6. Got it installed and then get my device connected (all other programs and anti-virus was off) then got prompted that i need to update. Followed up the on screen instruction.. and as i remember it correct, first attempt was failed (i don't remember what appear on the screen) but succeeded in the second attempt. However after the update it can't read properly.. reading is not stable and CRC32 always changing. I tried to grab another 93c66 from my stock assuming that the one i just read might not good.. but still the same.. It can't read properly.
.
Can it be fixed? What do i need to do? Can i go back to the previous version 1.5?
.
Red LED is ON when the programmer is connected to PC.
.

I don't think i had those 2 red progress. Only i can remember is while i try to INSTALL DRIVER from 'help' menu it says failed.

If v1.6 detects the programmer and red led is powered than update was successful and drivers are installed. It seems that issue is somewhere else. I'll send you on pm details how to back to v1.5 and we will see if this is issue with new version or somewhere else.
