MT25QU256ABA in WDFN8 not detected

Postby woko » Wed Nov 15, 2023 8:27 am

Dear Revelprog Team,

I want to program a MT25QU256ABA1EW9-0SIT SPI flash with your WDFN8 adapter. The device is not recognized and read identification delivers FF only, also a second device. Both devices are new.
An IS25WP512M device is detected and can be programmed with the same adapter. The software is V1.9.1.

Best regards,
Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

If IS25WP512M is working then adapter and programmer are fine - the same chip ID procedures are for MT25 series.
Please check pad contact for MT25. You can check also at slightly higher voltage, e.g. 2.0 volts - any difference?
What is effect when you click read memory when MT25QU256A is selected? Communication error or it reads memory?

Is this issue is with single chip or with every chip?
Have you tried 2.1 or 2.2 volts? any diffrence?

PS. you can send to us your programmer with 1pcs of this chip and we can check it and also compare how is it going on second programmer.

Erase and blank check works with 2,0V. With 2,1V it also does not work and it brings up strange messagebox "...".
I ordered a new Revelprog and check then.

Ahh I recommended to send your device with programmer, so we can check it, but if it will not work on second programmer too, please send your adapter and chip, so we can find issue. Please let me know when you test it.

Dear Artur, I just received the new revelprog. With VPP 1.8V (default) erase fails, detection is ok. With VPP 1.9V erase/programming/verify is good!

Thank you for information. If you wish you can send us old programmer so we can check it and repair. And please add 1pcs of this memory where this problem exists so we can replicate this issue.
